The Department of English started its journey at Kalinagar Mahavidyalaya in 1985. Since then the department has been catering to the academic needs of the students of an island in which this institution is the one and only centre of higher education. From 2009 the department has got the opportunity to provide Honours course to the students. Learning is a rigorous and continuous process and the teachers are always ready to inspire and guide the students to achieve their long – nourished goals. The department strives to provide its students knowledge in the profound domain of English literature and culture through regular classroom lectures using interactive and audio – visual methodologies. The dedicated and competent faculties have taken the challenge to spread this foreign language among the students, and the sincere students, despite the toughness of the topography and the economic backwardness of this region, remain focused in delving into not only the depth of English language and literature, but the wonders of creative art.
