
Kalinagar Mahavidyalaya was founded in 1985 on the first day of the month of May, in one of the remote islands of the Sundarban. Now a world heritage site, the college stood as the sole torch bearer of higher education among the local tribal, caste Hindus and minorities. This Government Aided college has received both 2f & 12b affiliation from the University Grants Commission.
Today as the college enters its 40thyear; it looks back to a nostalgic past starting with only 47 students often hailing from first generation learner families till date, it has traversed a long way. Struggling against all odds, both natural and material, persisting even today the college tries to prepare itself for a challenging future.
The College offers 07 UG Honours Programmes and 2 General Programmes. The college now has about 1000 students, 1 Principal, 13 Assistant Professors (of whom 1 [Associate Professor] and 1 Librarian. Besides there are 17 State Aided College Teachers. The total number of regular and casual non- teaching staffs is 7 and 11 respectively. Equipped with ICT enable classrooms, resourceful Library, gymnasium, Yoga and Sports facilities, We try to serve our students with best possible opportunities.
