About the Department

Since the inception of this college Philosophy has been introduced as a non-lab based subject under the Bachelor of Arts course. In accordance to the G.O. no C/1516/246, the department of Philosophy started its journey as one of the elective subjects in the general stream in the year 1985 under the jurisdiction of Calcutta University and later, in accordance to the G.O. No WBSU/IC/KM/304/16 the Honours course of this department has been introduced under the affiliation of West Bengal State University since 2016.
